Why You Need a MAD List

Do you keep a MAD list in wallet or purse?  If not, this message is for you.

A MAD list isn't about people who aggravate you. It stands for:

Medicines

Allergies

Doctors

It's vital in a medical crisis because it provides the emergency team information they need to treat you properly. It's a simple way to be prepared in the event you experience a medical emergency. Here's all you need to do.

1.  List all your medications with the dosage. Include any vitamins and herbal supplements. Medical personnel need to know, when you're first seen, what medications you are taking, so they won't give drugs that conflict and make you worse, rather than better.

2.  Your allergies are critical information for the medical team to ensure you won't be given treatment you're allergic to that could endanger your life.

3.  Having a list of your doctors saves valuable time in obtaining your medical records. It’s also helpful to add a note in your MAD list if you have any special medical devices, such as a pacemaker.
